Martien Hermes began studying astrology in 1983. He’s a qualified (Dutch) astrologer who has been teaching astrology since 1985. Since 1986 he was extensively involved with Freudian and Jungian psychology and counselling and its application in astrological practice.
Since 1994 he has been researching traditional astrological sources and regularly lecturing and hosting workshops on insights from this field of knowledge. He studied Robert Zoller’s course on ‘Medieval astrology’, and about 2003, started studying the work of Robert Schmidt, the man who restored Hellenistic astrology and put it on the map. My astrology was never the same after that.
This dealt mainly with the positioning of astrology as a discipline within the concepts of destiny and, conversely, the positioning of the concepts of destiny within astrology. That eventually became the content of the (Dutch) book (2015) ‘Moving and Being Moved. The return of Fate in Astrology’. A colleague wrote the following about it: “Earlier I already wrote that I think this is one of the most important astrological books which have been published in the Netherlands. I still support this claim.” It was translated into French.
